Jazz Band
Students are selected for Jazz Band by audition in September. Rehearsals are held at night (the day to be announced). Band members are required to participate in all scheduled concerts and select outside performances.

Upper classmen audition for this ensemble in February. Advanced music pieces are performed. Lessons focus on required etudes, scales, and solo or ensemble literature.

Concert Band
This course is open to students in all grade levels. Lessons focus on required etudes, scales, and solo or ensemble literature. Students must preregister for the course. The band meets every day and students must take a music lesson once a week

Concert Chorus
This vocal group performs style pieces from various time periods. Skills in music reading, interpretation, and correct breathing are developed. Grading is based on performance and music reading skills.

This group performs pieces of moderate to advanced difficulty. Vocal techniques are developed to an advanced level. All members must have good music reading skills. Grading is based on class performance. Selection is by audition only.

This chamber group composed of treble voices performs vocal pieces of moderate to advanced difficulty. Singing technique is developed to an advanced level. Members must have good music reading skills. Grading is based on class performance. Selection is by audition.

Music Theory/Advanced Music Theory
In this core course, students learn to read and write the principles of music composition. Through the study in the “science” of music, students gain a new and thorough understanding of how music is put together and organized in a variety of genre.

Studio Music
This course provides a “hybrid” introduction to written music notation and music technology through a DAW (digital audio workstation), a MIDI/sheet-music interface, and other selected software. Students will be taught the basic tools and techniques within electronic-music creation and audio engineering. Through a variety of composition projects done both individually and in groups, students will work with loops, beats, software instruments, synths, live recordings, edits/cuts, EQ, and basic audio effects, as well as the principles of scoring for motion picture and music as a means for storytelling, persuasion, and branding/marketing.”
