PBE fifth-grade students research great African-Americans for Black History Month

Students in Amy Sherwood’s fifth grade class at Pine Bush Elementary researched and wrote excellent essays on some of our country’s most important African-Americans.

Not only did they learn about the great contributions made to our country by these individuals, they also used a graphic organizer to construct their project, deeply researched their subjects and then wrote and rewrote their essays.

Their subjects included Harriet Tubman, Katherine Jackson, Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Barack Obama, Jackie Robinson and many other notable Black Americans.

They did a first draft, reread and revised them, then turned them in to Ms. Sherwood for her comments and suggestions.

They finalized their papers, which were posted on the bulletin board outside their classroom. Great job!
