PBE students take part in the election process by electing class mascot

Ariana Lofrese’s students learned all about the voting process during the week of the presidential election. She and SRP Diane Nawoschik held a mock election for a class mascot. The candidates – a penguin and a wolf.

Students sit outside on grass and listen to someone talk about elections.

Ms. Lofrese gave each of the candidates a motto about learning, character traits and perspectives on learning and supporting classmates.

The students participated in a debate where they could ask the potential mascots questions to get a deeper understanding of each candidate. Ms. Lofrese and Ms. Nawoschik each represented one of the candidates.

A collage of pictures with a wolf in the center. The pictures around it are young elementary students voting in red, white and blue ballot boxes.

The students then could make a decision on which candidate would best represent the class. The winner? The wolf!
