PBHS inducts 93 students into National Honor Society

Pine Bush High School inducted 93 students into its National Honor Society Thursday evening, Oct. 6. Seventy-seven juniors and 16 seniors were honored for their academics as well as their character, leadership and service. The criteria for students to be invited for membership in National Honor Society are:

  • achieve a cumulative average of at least 90%
  • complete 10 or more hours of community service
  • demonstrate excellence in leadership and character.

Christopher Passudetti, a respected English teacher at Pine Bush High School, received an honorary membership in NHS. Mr. Passudetti thanked the students of the National Honor Society for the honor and called them “a remarkable group of students.” He added, “Getting to be your teacher has been a real honor.”

Superintendent Brian Dunn spoke to the group about keeping positive.

“The one thing I can recommend is to keep it positive,” said Mr. Dunn. “Always try to see the great metaphorical glass as half full.”

The four tenets of the honor society are character, scholarship, leadership and service.

After each inductee was presented, all recited the National Honor Society pledge:

I pledge to uphold the high purposes of the National Honor Society to which I have been selected;

I will be true to the principles for which it stands;

I will be loyal to my school;

And will maintain and encourage high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
