PBHS inducts 97 into the National Honor Society

Pine Bush High School inducted 97 juniors and seniors into its National Honor Society Wednesday night.

16 high school students dressed nicely in dresses and suits stand on the stage in an auditorium. On the floor below, there are 15 more people. All are wearing masks.

Students were in person for the ceremony at the high school while family and friends could view it live on the district’s website.

Bill McMonigle, a beloved, longtime employee at the high school who passed away in May 2020, posthumously received an honorary membership in NHS.

The four tenets of the honor society are character, scholarship, leadership and service.

The criteria for students to be invited for membership in National Honor Society are:

  • achieve a cumulative average of at least 90%
  • complete 10 or more hours of community service
  • demonstrate excellence in leadership and character.

After each inductee was presented, all recited the National Honor Society pledge:

I pledge to uphold the high purposes of the National Honor Society to which I have been selected;

I will be true to the principles for which it stands;

I will be loyal to my school;

And will maintain and encourage high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

The NHS officers for 2021-2022 are:

  • Jack Gandalfini, president
  • Julia Almeida, vice president
  • Samantha Rezza, treasurer
  • Kealan Stelmaszyk, secretary
  • Anastacia Gelman, officer

Congratulations to all of our 2021 National Honor Society inductees!
