Reading is so much fun!

Lisa Andryshak’s Kindergarten students love to read and they love to make art projects! As a celebration of Read Across America Day on March 2, they created their own hats just like in the beloved Dr. Seuss book, The Cat in the Hat!

A boy with a dark shirt and mask holds a pencil and writes on a red and white paper hat.

Each year, Read Across America Day is celebrated on March 2. It is an initiative by the National Education Association aimed at celebrating and encouraging reading in children. Some great ways to inspire reading in children all year round include:

  • Make books easily accessible, wherever your children will be.
  • Visit the library often – it fosters a love of reading.
  • Get caught reading. Children imitate what they see. Let them know reading is a cool thing to do.
  • Read to your children. It strengthens their vocabulary and language skills.
