Pi Day at CES is a very special day. While math is a major focus as the students learn about the mathematical constant, Pi (3.14159…), there is excitement for another reason.
The students in each grade who raised the most money for the American Heart Association during the Kids Heart Challenge in February have the honor of smooshing a pie in the face of a brave staff volunteer. This year, CES raised a record $12,503 for the AHA so kudos to all who participated and the great job everyone did.
Pre-K teacher Kathleen Murray got two pies right in a row from Armor Kelly and Krystof Majewicz, the top fundraisers from pre-K and kindergarten.
Ava Leah Haynes represented first grade and pie’d Kayla Clancy.
Second-grader Levi Addae chose Janell Budd while Adam Gryzbek, from third grade, designated Assistant Principal Romulo Gabriel for his pie.
Fourth-grader Peyton McGuire, who was the top fundraiser in the school, had an oversized pie of whipped cream for Jake Izzo.
Fifth-graders Autumn Decker and James King singled out nurse Kathleen Chamberlain and Jake Izzo.

Great fun for all for an even greater cause! Happy Pi Day to all!
