The Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) club is bringing awareness to students about staying safe during this prom season and when driving anytime.
Advisor Kathleen O’Malley and several of her club members manned a table outside of the cafeteria, educating students about the dangers of distracted driving, and using alcohol or other drugs at the prom. They recruited students to sign the promise, which states, “I WANT TO LIVE. I want to laugh, listen to great music and dance. I want to have an absolutely amazing time at prom. The day after, I will relive it with my friends. I want to remember it. All of it. I will not use alcohol or other drugs at prom. I promise not to text while driving and to stop a driver from doing so.” Ms. O’Malley engaged with several students, discussing why these good choices are essential to all.
On Friday, May 17, which is the day of the junior prom, there will be a mock crash and speaker for all juniors. Stay safe everyone and have a wonderful, memorable time at the prom!
