Samantha McKee and Colby Zupetz honored as scholar athletes by OCIAA

Congratulations to Samantha McKee and Colby Zupetz, Pine Bush High School scholar athletes who were among the graduating seniors recently honored by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIAA).

Colby is graduating as the salutatorian in the class of 2023 with a 100.15 grade point average. He will attend Penn State University after graduation to study forensic science.

Academically, Colby ranks second in his graduating class. He is a member of the National Honor Society, has been named a scholar athlete from 2018 through 2023. He has been named to the high honor roll throughout his high school career. He participated in the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine MedAchieve Program, the Pine Bush High School Medical Academy and received the AP Scholar Award.

Colby has participated in cross country, as well as indoor and outdoor track and field throughout his high school career. He is a leader, serving as team captain for varsity cross country, varsity indoor track and field and varsity outdoor track and field in both 2021 and 2022. Colby has earned 12 varsity letter and was named all-county for cross country.

Colby has volunteered at his church, the annual Summerfest Celebration and at Garnet Health Medical Center.

Samantha is ranked 18th in her class at Pine Bush High School with a 98.7 grade point average. She will attend Queens University of Charlotte (NC) to major in business and entrepreneurship. She will also continue her swimming career on scholarship at the Division 1 level.

Samantha is a member of the National Honor Society and has achieved high honor roll throughout her high school career. She has taken numerous advance placement courses and college-level classes. She will earn an Advanced Regents Diploma.

Athletically, Samantha has excelled in her sport. She was the varsity captain of the swimming and diving team with multiple varsity letters. She is a five-time OCIAA team champion, five-time Section IX team champion and a state champion. She has broken swim records at Pine Bush, OCIAA and Section IX.

Samantha volunteers with the Pine Bush Aquatic Club as a coach, lifeguard, media coordinator and swim timer.

The breakfast was held at held at Otterkill Country Club and attended by honorees, their families, district personnel and OCIAA members.
