Our students are doing their very best to help save the planet!
The CVMS Interact Club and Art Club are joining forces to spread the word throughout their building of its Terracycle recycling program.
Terracyle is a recycling company that focuses on hard-to-recycle materials. They believe that overconsumption and a throwaway culture have led to a global waste crisis. Their programs are free and sponsored by specific brands. They advocate for less consumption while inventing solutions to recycle what was previously unrecyclable.
The Interact Club, led by Nicole Bobby, is participating in two Terracycle events: writing instruments and Takis snack bags. There are boxes around the building for students and staff to deposit their writing instruments and their Takis bags. Then, the Interact Club will send the boxes to Terracycle, free of charge. It’s a win- win!
The recycling of the writing instruments include highlighters, markers, pens and caps, mechanical pencils and even empty glue stick containers. Bic is the company sponsoring the event but all brands are accepted.
Takis bags are the only snack bags accepted in this recycling event.
Members of the Art Club, led by Abby Williams, are creating boxes for students and staff to deposit their materials. Students are encouraged to bring the materials from home as well as what they use in school. The more we collect, the better it is for everyone!
So, collect those pens and markers and Takis bags and send them in with your CVMS student. Let’s put the planet first and advocate for less consumption. It’s the least we can do for our kids and those beyond!
