Sixth-grade students explore the Scientific Method with the tower challenge

Sixth-grade students at CVMS were given a challenge – construct a free-standing tower using the least amount of index cards. Oh, and the tower must be able to hold a stuffed animal for a minimum of 20 seconds.

A sixth-grade girl with long blonde hair builds a tower of index cards on a black lab table.

The students in Stacie Blaut’s class thought it out. It was an exploration of the Scientific Method. Different groups used different methods of construction – curved bases, wide bases, rectangular structures – and many were successful!
