So much beauty and creativity emerges from the fine art academy

Three talented, inquisitive and creative students graduated from the fine art academy this summer. Run by Julie Palinkas, with an assist from student instructor Katie Johnson, the academy gave students the opportunity to delve into techniques they otherwise wouldn’t during the regular school year class periods.

The students worked with clay, creating beautiful coil vessels with such intricate detail. They used technology, the laser printer and Adobe Illustrator, and did silk screening. They painted with water colors and oil. They made stamps from recycled Styrofoam and created the most incredible patterns from them. Their theme for the year – “Trust the process.”

Their families showed up for their graduation, so impressed by what they had created over the two and a half weeks of the academy. “The skills you’ve honed here – creativity, critical thinking, perseverance – will serve you well no matter where life takes you,” said Amy Brockner, interim superintendent of schools. “Whether you become professional artists, educators, designers, or pursue entirely different fields, carry with you the spirit of innovation and the courage to dream big.”

Ms. Palinkas thanked the students for putting so much effort into the academy and congratulated them on the stunning work they did and the creativity they showed.

Their works of art were on full display, and family and friends were so impressed with them.

“Congratulations on this remarkable achievement,” said Ms. Brockner. “The world eagerly awaits the beauty and creativity you will bring into it. Thank you for sharing your talents with us and may your artistic journey be as fulfilling as it is limitless.”
