STEAM activities encourage collaboration, communication and fun

Fun and learning are a great combination! Suzanne Parker’s second-grade students at Pakanasink recently had a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) day! The students went from one activity to another, in teams, creating, building, collaborating and communicating.

The activities included:

  • Create a maze with Legos that has a start and finish point for a marble.
  • Build a tree to hold as many letters as possible. This activity was related to the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom book.
  • Build a structure with only one block or cup as the base.

The students also practiced great communication skills which allowed them to be successful in teams. And, of course, they had fun doing it.
