Students learn to rest, reset in order to focus

Sometimes, visualizing things really helps to understand them. Jessica Abrams’ class at PBE did just that with their emotions.

The students worked with Dr. Shannon Renner,  the school psychologist, and Sheena Carey,  PBE school social worker, to make glitter mixed emotion jars.

Elementary age kids work at a table together with a woman who is dressed in black. They are reaching for supplies on the table.

They added glue, warm water, and different colored glitter to represent their emotions. When the bottles were all mixed up, it represented a jumbled mind. How can you focus when your emotions are jumbled?

An elementary age girl, with longer dark hair and wearing a flowered shirt, holds up a cup filled with liquid and glitter swirling around.

When they let the bottles rest and reset, it was much clearer and it represented how, when we reset and have a clear mind, it’s easier to think and reflect on how we feel.

Good advice for all!
