SUNY Orange honors 71 Pine Bush students with Sojourner Truth awards

For the past thirty-five years, in honor of Sojourner Truth, Orange County Community College has celebrated its youth by awarding them for their achievements. The college continues to recognize the accomplishments of these deserving students in grades 6-12 and encourage college attendance as an option for students from groups traditionally under-represented in the college population.

This year, 71 students from Pine Bush schools were among those honored throughout the county.

The students nominated by their schools received a medal and a Certificate of Recognition from SUNY Orange at a ceremony honoring them on March 7. These students have demonstrated a consistent work ethic, overcame challenges, and persevered through obstacles resulting in a positive outcome.

As we are encouraged by what the future holds, now more than ever we must reassure our youth to persist and continue on the path toward all of the opportunities that await them.

Congratulations to all our Pine Bush students honored with these Sojourner Truth awards.
