Family and friends gathered at the large tent outside of Edward J. Russell Elementary School on Tuesday, June 19 to celebrate the accomplishments of the 96 fifth grade students who would be receiving their certificates and moving up to Crispell Middle School in September.
Superintendent Tim Mains reminded parents that these students will become part of the Pine Bush High School class of 2025. He congratulated the students and wished them well on their next big adventure. He encouraged the students to be active in middle school, to consider joining clubs and teams, to work hard and to always stay true to themselves.
Principal Elizabeth Halsey Sproul and Assistant Principal Richard Girgenti presented the class with their certificates, academic awards and special recognitions. Teachers gave awards to students who excelled in art, music chorus, band, library, and physical education. There was plenty of high praise for these students, not only for their academic accomplishments but for their growth in character and kindness.
As a special treat, the Fifth Grade Band played “Over the Rainbow,” led by Mrs. Judith Bracco. And at the conclusion of the ceremony, the fifth grade students sang “Together We Can Change the World.”
Afterwards, families and friends gathered with their brand new middle schoolers for refreshments, courtesy of the PTA.
Congratulations to the EJR Elementary School fifth graders and their families!
