The Pine Bush Board of Education named Terrilyn Cohn interim assistant superintendent for instruction Tuesday night.
Amy Brockner has been the district’s assistant superintendent for instruction for the past four years. She was named interim superintendent for the district earlier this month.
Ms. Cohn has been the director of special programs in the district for the last seven years. During her almost 30 years in the education field, she has served as both an elementary teacher and a middle school teacher of math, science and social studies, as well as a special education teacher at various levels. She has also been an assistant principal and a director.
“Terrilyn has long been a valued member of our team here in Pine Bush,” said Ms. Brockner. “Her professional experience – in the different levels of classrooms and with our faculty and staff – has more than prepared her for this position. We all look forward to continuing our work with Terrilyn in this new capacity.”
Erica Walentin will step in as interim director of special programs. She is currently assistant director of special programs.
In her role as director of special programs, Ms. Cohn has worked in all seven of our school buildings with principals, teachers, related service providers, coaches, and other staff. Ms. Cohn has had the opportunity to collaborate with the assistant superintendent for instruction on numerous occasions including co-leading the Personalized Learning initiative.
“I look forward to this opportunity to continue the important work that has been done across all areas of curriculum and instruction here in Pine Bush,” she said. “We have an amazing team and I am so proud to be a part of it.”
