Third-graders at PBE learn about Sept. 11 and heroes

Meghan Cronin’s third graders at PBE marked the anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001 with a history lesson, a project and a discussion about heroes.

Heroes, Ms. Cronin explained, aren’t just the ones they read about in their novels. Real heroes are around us every day. On Sept. 11, 2001, many ordinary people became heroes, helping others throughout that day. “It was a day in American history we were forever changed,” said Ms. Cronin.

The students talked about their heroes – many named their moms and dads along with other family members.
