Wallkill East Rotary seeks families to host foreign exchange student

The Wallkill East Rotary Club is looking for families that may be interested in hosting a foreign exchange student for the 2024-2025 school year. The Rotary Youth Exchange program is a well-established  program that was created after World War II to promote peace and encourage world understanding.

That mission continues today.

Rotary’s goal is to have three host families for the school year. Each family would be responsible for about one third of the foreign exchange student’s year. The student will be a junior/senior at Pine Bush High School.

Four women and a high school girl stand together smiling. In the background is a banner that says Rotary Club Wallkill New York.

The Wallkill East Rotary Club has an exchange student committee that works with all the families to ensure a successful year. A member of the Rotary Club is the liaison between the club, the three families and the high school.

During the 2023-2024 school year, Rotary and the district were delighted to be the host club for Julia Gerbasi from Brazil. She has had a great experience at Pine Bush High School and enjoyed three wonderful host families. In addition, each family enjoyed the experience of having a new family member from another country and culture. \

Rotary is getting organized for next year and are looking for host families. If anyone is interested and/or has questions, please call Wallkill East Rotarian Bill Bassett at 845-800-3532
