We are more alike than we might think!

Denise Hansen’s kindergarten students are working hard in many ways, including getting to know about each other. One of their recent projects was to make a large cut-out of themselves where they included information about their favorite things – foods, activities, colors! It is just another way to get to know each other and find similarities. We are more alike than we think!

Three young elementary girls work at a table coloring with crayons.

It’s all a part of the Start With Hello program which promotes events where students take the time and initiative to start conversations with each other.

Two first grade students work on cutouts of themselves, coloring them and writing some of their favorite things.

From the Sandy Hook Promise website: Sandy Hook Promise is a national nonprofit organization founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012. Their intent is to honor all victims of gun violence by turning their tragedy into a moment of transformation. By empowering youth to “know the signs” and uniting all people who value the protection of children, they can take meaningful actions in schools, homes, and communities to prevent gun violence and stop the tragic loss of life, to make new social connections and create a sense of belonging among youth.
