Welcome to CVMS – incoming sixth-grade and new students, parents get ready for middle school

Parents and guardians, students, and staff gathered at Circleville Middle School for the sixth-grade orientation, getting ready for the new school year which starts on Thursday, Sept. 1. Students listened attentively as they learned about scheduling, clubs and activities, were introduced to teachers and counselors, and got the low-down on how things work at CVMS

Principal Lisa Hankinson told the group she is so happy to have the students there in person. She explained that the academies at CVMS are named after the stars “because our students are all superstars.”

A man in a blue jacket, dress shirt and khaki pants is on the left, and a woman in black shirt, black and white skirt with long blonde hair and glasses stand in front of an auditorium filled with people speaking to them.

The incoming sixth-grade students will be part of Andromeda Blue and Gold. The students will be working on so much this year, including reflection and goal setting, collaboration, citizenship, communication, creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving.

Two students, a boy on the left and girl on the right., are seated in an auditorium. The girl has shoulder length dark hair and is wearing a black beret. The boy is looking at her, while she is looking at a paper.

There are also many activities for students, including student council, Odyssey of the Mind, world language club, yearbook club, band, media club, drama, coding, Interact Club, STEAM club, multi-cultural diversity club and many more.

Circleville Middle School is a Gold Star No Place for Hate school. That is something both Mrs. Hankinson and Assistant Principal Seth Siegel are very proud of. CVMS also participates in the Positivity Project, a character education project woven into the daily schedule. Mr. Siegel explained there is a focus each month throughout the year, for example leadership, and lessons about that character trait are incorporated throughout that month.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to login to SchoolTool for their student’s schedules.

It’s an exciting time for all! Students begin the school year on Thursday, Sept. 1.
